The current estimate is that around ~9 autonomous AI hacking incidents might be undisclosed.

We know of ~9 cases of AI hacking into someone else’s systems. The number detected does not mean that is the number that occurred. Anthropic’s January incident waited 7 months to be found. That the May attack on the RubyGems repository was conducted by OpenAI agents became known on 11 September. 2 of the 3 companies Anthropic notified in July had no idea anyone hacked them. 7 of those 9 cases happened before July and surfaced over the summer.

Things will get far, far worse once agents begin communicating through channels humans do not observe, in a language humans do not know or would not even recognise as communication.

China’s used car dealers have set an expiry date for electric cars. 

About four out of five used car dealers in China refuse to accept a fully electric vehicle older than five years, over worries about battery life and replacement costs, according to the International Energy Agency’s Global EV Outlook. A 3-year-old EV in China now resells for about 45% of its original price, down from almost 55% in 2023, according to the China Automobile Dealers Association.

Yet a review of the European Product Registry for Energy Labelling, where manufacturers are required to list where they publish the required information, found that few have so far fallen in line.

Right to Repair says that of 2,334 records for smartphone models brought to market over the last year, only about 18 percent actually list a website where spare parts prices or repair instructions can be found.

About half of the records simply have blanks where there should be a URL, while another 19 percent refer to a product page or support page not containing any relevant repair instructions or spare parts listings.

Some records even refer customers to Temu or AliExpress for spare parts and repair instructions.
